About the data
The transmission and local lines layer, from an OpenStreetMap snapshot of September 25, 2026. Each segment keeps its reported voltage, operator and circuits.
The data is community-mapped. Use it as context next to plants, substations and queue points, not as a complete network.

Sources
- Power lines and cables(opens in a new tab), OpenStreetMap contributors
Periods and update notes for each source are on Data sources.
Known gaps
- Community-mapped and incomplete. An empty area is not proof of no infrastructure.
- Voltages are never inferred.
Missing values stay missing: a null means the source has no usable record, never zero. Zero and negative values are shown as reported.
Questions it answers
- How complete is OpenStreetMap power line coverage around a given wind project?
- How many USGS and OpenStreetMap geometry records match a given solar project?
