Binding transmission constraints

Day-ahead and real-time shadow prices for binding transmission constraints in the seven US ISO and RTO markets, with a registry of every constraint seen.

Updated November 2, 2026

About the data

Transmission constraints that bound in each market, with day-ahead and real-time shadow prices per constraint and interval, a registry of every constraint seen and daily summaries.

Each constraint keeps the monitored element, contingency, stations and kV where published. A constraint missing from an interval did not bind, inside the hours the source published in full.

Served

Markets
CAISO, ERCOT, ISO-NE, MISO, NYISO, PJM and SPP
Updates
Hourly; MISO the next day; PJM real time one to three days late; ISO-NE final values days to weeks later
Licence
Public market data under each ISO’s terms of use

Access

Part of InfraMap Pro. See pricing.

Where it appears: Constraints layer, congestion dashboard, agent, MCP.

MCP tools that return it: get_binding_constraints, explain_output_or_price_change. The MCP server is part of Pro; setup is on MCP server.

Sources

Periods and update notes for each source are on Data sources.

Known gaps

Limits
  • Sign conventions are each ISO’s own.
  • NYISO publishes constraint cost in dollars rather than a shadow price.

Missing values stay missing: a null means the source has no usable record, never zero. Zero and negative values are shown as reported.

Questions it answers

  • Which constraints bound most often in MISO real time last month, and at what shadow prices?
  • Which day-ahead constraints in PJM had the highest total shadow prices in 2025?
